Personal History Born and raised in Bozeman, Montana, Michael had a fairly normal childhood with school, friends, goofing off and figuring out what to do with his life.

He was well behaved, but being the second of four children he started to be overlooked. He didn't look at this as a negative, however, instead enjoying his anonymity and using it as a cloak to pursue his own interests.

He'd enjoyed shop classes in grammar school and found himself gravitating towards that. When he was approached by a recruiter at a school program, he was intrigued by Starfleet and the chance to see the galaxy.

He applied to the academy engineering track, hoping to join a local Starship, but wouldn't complain if he got a deep space assignment, although his mother was less than thrilled with that prospect. Still, his family supported his dreams and when he was accepted to the academy, they all cheered for him and his brothers quickly packed his things. This turned out to be a tactical error on his part as they shipped his things to a Starfleet warehouse on Jupiter Station, and it wasn't until halfway through his first year that he got them back.

Professional History Michael's career in Starfleet has been steady and upward. He volunteers for tough assignments, and enjoys his time alone, crawling through his ships. He prides himself on knowing the ins and outs of his ships, and claims he can find any junction blindfolded--something his previous captain asked him to stop trying to prove on more than one occasion.

He hasn't gone out of his way to seek promotion, rather he seeks challenges and projects that have earned him a promotion or two in the process. That isn't to say he doesn't appreciate his rank, but he focuses on the job and his love of the ship before his own advancement, which his former Captains have approved of.
